Our New Name
Names have a way of finding you. We started as Muskoka Nordik Spa, and as we’ve moved through this journey — from initial vision to sharing our first architectural renderings to moving closer to breaking ground — we’ve landed on Aküam Spa Muskoka as the final name that’s just right. A quiet nod to water, to stillness, to everything this place is being built around. Same vision, same team, same commitment to Muskoka. Just our name, at last.
A Vision Driven by Community
At the heart of this project is a deep-rooted commitment to the local region. Founders David and Sarah Thatcher are driven by a mission to blend wellness with the unique spirit of Muskoka.

Aküam Spa Muskoka is envisioned as a place of deep connection – a place where guests can experience the traditional hydrotherapy cycle of hot, cold, rest, and repeat. From steam rooms to saunas, hot tubs to diverse cold experiences, everything is thoughtfully designed to reignite one’s physical and emotional systems, offering a unique opportunity for guests to re-connect with nature, with themselves, and with others. Aküam Spa Muskoka will offer experiences for guests 19+ that include access to hydrotherapy, registered massage therapists, and high quality food & beverage options, all set in the natural beauty of Muskoka with easy access off Highway 11 and Highway 141.
